It’s hard to tell what would be causing that exactly, but we think it is likely poor quality metal. You also mentioned you are sensitive to metals, so we recommend finding a shop where you can switch out for a higher quality metal. A shop should be able to tell you where they get their jewelry from, for example, jewelry ordered from the company Anatometal is guaranteed to be either ASTM F-136 Titanium, ASTM F-138 Stainless Steel, Niobium, or 18k gold. Not all stainless steel was created equal, and you can tell the difference by looking closely at the polish of the metal. If you can see small scratches or nicks in the metal, it is likely lower quality.
Titanium is hypoallergenic, but high quality steel usually doesn’t cause reactions, and some people can only wear gold.
